I am very pleased to announce that by working with our corporate sponsors we will be able to bring our production of Measure for Measure to the stage absolutely free of charge.

Amy, Andy and I are all Athens natives and our hometown is important to us. Having spent most of our lives in and out of local community theatres we've always secretly desired to produce free shows. You see it's important on both sides of the curtain. The cast and crew of the production spend months of time, blood and energy to pull a great show together. It then really sucks to turn to our family, friends and neighbors to say "Hey come see this show I'm in... but bring twenty bucks per person m'kay?"

Then there's the current economic situation we've all been left in. Let's face it, we're all watching every penny these days because no matter how well off you are right now there's some uncertainy as to the future. Plus a lot of us are out of work and are struggling to get by at all. There's simply no room for an expensive evening at the theatre right now. It would greatly distress me if there ever was a day that Athens lost it's unique and long standing tradition of community theatre simply because no one's able to afford it. We'd rather meet that crisis head on before it's too late to do anything about it.

It's a grand esperiment for sure and it presents quite a bit of risk. We'd like to thank all of our corporate sponsors for pitching in and really embracing this idea. As you see their Ads come and go on the site remember they are helping the ENTIRE community to enjoy classic works of art.

A special thanks should also go out to our sister project Thrillahill Productions for not only providing our rehearsal space and scene shop but for underwriting the show as well.
