The Weekend Workshop is open to any and all who have an interest in theatre. The Workshop focuses on shorter shows (mostly one acts) with small casts. This is to provide the cast and crew a much more intimate and relaxed environment to explore the craft. The Workshop, with it's focus on the craft of acting, is a great place for newcomers to get their feet wet in the theatre. The general theme of the Workshop is to let actors get used to the idea of 'living' with their part. It is tremendously important to think about one's character as you go through daily life. When you approach a new situation ask yourself 'What would my character do?”. This helps the actor explore the differences between your own character and the one your playing. This is the core of acting – understanding that you are not the character you are playing. Only when an actor realizes this can true character reflection and hence development begin. The Workshop meets on Saturdays and Sundays generally from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. This allows for plenty of 'homework' and gives people with busy week-schedules a chance to join in the community theatre fun. The Weekend Workshop is run by Will Leamon and if you have any questions about the program please email him at will@classiccityarts.com
